Earlier update

RhinoBanana 0.1.11 is out

TLDR

RhinoBanana 0.1.11 adds 2D layout prompts, so you can capture layouts from Rhino and use RhinoBanana with 2D drawings and layouts.

RhinoBanana 0.1.11 builds on 0.1.10 by expanding RhinoBanana beyond 3D views. You can now work directly from layouts in your Rhino document and use captured layout previews as the main context for 2D drawings and layouts.

Highlights

  • New 2D layout prompt mode. RhinoBanana can now work with layouts from your document, not just 3D viewports.
  • Layout capture in the prompt flow. Layout prompts use the selected layout as the main visual input, together with any reference images you attach.
  • Better prompt and upscale controls. Prompt settings are clearer, with improved save/reset flows and a dedicated saved upscale prompt.
  • More reliable updates. The updater flow has been hardened so installs and updates are more dependable.

Previous update

RhinoBanana 0.1.10 is out

TLDR

RhinoBanana now supports Nano Banana 2, download reliability has improved, new 3D asset and texture libraries make it easier to steer image results, and a new updater runs after Rhino closes.

RhinoBanana 0.1.10 adds a cheaper generation model option, stronger image download handling, new libraries that help you control scale, intent, and material direction, and a new updater flow that runs after Rhino is closed.

Highlights

  • Nano Banana 2 support. RhinoBanana now supports Nano Banana 2, a much cheaper but still highly capable model.
  • More reliable download flow. Generated images are now stored briefly to allow multiple download attempts, which reduces dropped images during rendering. Images are auto-deleted afterward.
  • New post-close updater flow. When prompted, updates now run after Rhino is closed. This reduces failed updates on Windows, especially on Rhino 7, and makes updating RhinoBanana smoother.
  • New 3D asset library. Download a 3D asset library with reference models to improve scale and design intent in your scenes, leading to better generated images.
  • New texture library. Download a texture library and apply textures directly to model layers to improve visuals and steer the output toward the look you want.

  • Better prompt inputs. Reference images can be added to prompts, with clearer model/image limits and validation.
  • Render workflow improvements. Better target-resolution capture, depth-map editing, camera/crop consistency, and cleaner layer handling.
  • Safety and reliability. Added trusted local request validation, stronger error handling and notifications, and pre-render checks.

Earlier update

RhinoBanana 0.1.8 is out

TLDR

Image editing, a light/dark theme toggle, UI/UX polish, and Web UI server stability updates.

RhinoBanana 0.1.8 builds on 0.1.7 by deepening the Images workspace and polishing the embedded web experience.

Highlights

  • Image Edit workflow. Open any image in a dedicated editor, paint one or more masks, and add prompts to generate targeted edits.
  • Theme mode toggle. Switch between light and dark under Settings → Appearance, plus a refreshed UI style system for better readability and consistency.
  • UI/UX polish. Render calls-to-action and summaries are clearer, loading/status messaging feels smoother, and the images browser now loads and navigates more reliably.
  • Stability. Improved control around the embedded Web UI server lifecycle (cleaner start/stop, fewer stuck resources on shutdown).

Earlier update

RhinoBanana 0.1.7 is out

TLDR

Upscale gallery images, richer prompt context, smoother UI navigation, easier updates, Rhino 7/8 polish, and stability fixes.

RhinoBanana 0.1.7 ships fresh gallery tooling, prompt helpers, and UX polish.

Highlights

  • Gallery upscaling. Upscale generated images (2k/4k/8k) directly from the Images gallery.
  • Improved prompt context. “Layer colors + names”, plus a new Layer Hints editor (geometric/region-based hints) and better preview tooltips.
  • Smoother UI. Images view loads faster with infinite scroll/paging, resolution badges, and more consistent thumbnail cropping; UI no longer reloads on resize.
  • Easier updates. Update banner can open Rhino Package Manager from inside the UI.
  • Rhino 7/8 polish. Improved Rhino 7 menu/icon handling, and clearer messaging for Rhino 8 users running the .NET Framework build.
  • Fixes. Password reset/register edge cases and general stability fixes.

Pricing update

Clarification on Nano Banana & Nano Banana Pro pricing

TLDR

  • Pricing has been corrected after a misunderstanding on my side
  • Nano Banana (non-Pro) 1k now costs 0.8 credits (previously 0.5)
  • Nano Banana Pro 1k option has been removed
  • Nano Banana Pro 2k now costs 2.5 credits (previously 3)
  • Nano Banana Pro 4k now costs 5 credits (previously 6)
  • Refunds are available on request

I want to clarify a recent update to the pricing of Nano Banana and Nano Banana Pro.

RhinoBanana is still very new, and while reviewing the pricing model, I realised that I had misunderstood how the cost structure worked for Nano Banana Pro at different resolutions. I initially assumed that 1k renders would be cheaper than 2k renders, but that assumption turned out to be incorrect.

As a result, the 1k render option for Nano Banana Pro has been removed, and pricing has been adjusted to better reflect the actual cost structure:

  • Nano Banana (non-Pro) 1k: 0.8 credits (previously 0.5)
  • Nano Banana Pro 2k: 2.5 credits (previously 3)
  • Nano Banana Pro 4k: 5 credits (previously 6)

The 1k Pro option is no longer offered, as it provided no meaningful advantage over 2k.

There may still be small adjustments as RhinoBanana matures, but the goal is to stabilise pricing quickly and communicate changes clearly and transparently.

If you’ve already purchased credits and would like a refund as a result of this correction, you’re very welcome to contact me at app@rhinobanana.com.

Thanks for your understanding — and thank you for being an early RhinoBanana user.

RhinoBanana 0.1.6 has been published

TLDR

Clearer prompt summaries, faster editing, layer hint overrides, new issue reporting, and stability fixes.

RhinoBanana 0.1.6 has just been published to the package manager.

This release focuses on making prompts easier to understand and refine, while fixing several issues.

What's new

  • Improved Summary panel. See included previews (Shaded / Rendered / Depth) and the full prompt split into clear sections for quick review before rendering. You can now also override the predefined prompts for Shaded and Rendered images. A new system prompt has been introduced where general guidelines can be described.
  • Inline prompt editing. Jump straight from the summary into focused editors for system prompts, preview prompts, and override layer hints.
  • Layer hint overrides. Redefine what a layer represents in the prompt without renaming it in Rhino, and save those overrides with the document.
  • New "Report an issue" tool. Automatically collects Rhino, plugin, and platform information and provides a direct link for reporting issues.
  • Stability improvements. Fixes around display-mode overrides of Shaded and Rendered. Resolves an issue where the generated prompt could return "invalid JSON".
